Rudi Garcia to exit Belgium role as contract ends, already looking ahead | OneFootball

Rudi Garcia will not be retained as Belgium head coach beyond 31 July, despite meeting objectives and overseeing a respectable World Cup.

According to L'Équipe, he was informed by phone on Monday morning that his tenure would end when his deal expires, and a statement said both parties wanted to conclude the collaboration.

Belgium’s campaign finished with a 1-2 quarter-final defeat to Spain in Los Angeles on 10 July.

In June, Garcia said he did not know what would follow the World Cup, adding that, if he still felt the fire and energy, he would like to keep coaching for another four or five years.

Now 62 and back in Rome with his wife and daughter, he is not dwelling on the decision and is already focused on what comes next.
