Rui Costa's Benfica have secured the signing of 17-year-old centre-back Davi Lima from Itaquaquecetuba Athletico Clube, a move aimed at the club's future.
Founded only in 2025, the Brazilian side has completed the first transfer in its brief history, according to Globoesporte.
The agreement between the parties is for three years and involves around 1 million euros. Itaquaquecetuba will retain a percentage of the defender's economic rights, with the exact share not disclosed.
Lima has already been in Lisbon for medical tests and to formalise a pre-contract, but he will only be officially registered by Benfica in July 2027, when he turns 18, in line with international regulations for such moves.
The Brazilian club's president, José Chiotti, said the choice of Benfica followed months of talks with European and Brazilian teams, and was driven by the Lisbon club's reputation for player development, leading to the signing of the pre-agreement.
