Leicester City’s move for Gavin Bazunu could face an early setback, with Derby County lining up a summer move.

The Sun reports that the Rams are keen to sign the 24-year-old as a replacement for Jakob Widell Zetterstrom, and are braced to lose him this summer, with the Sweden international wanted by Leeds United, Wolves and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bazunu was Martin’s first choice at Southampton in the 2024 promotion season, playing 41 games and keeping 11 clean sheets.

He later lost his place after Martin’s dismissal and had a stint with Standard Liege. He returned last summer, started as first-choice before Daniel Peretz arrived, then spent the second half of last season at Stoke City.

The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper has one year left on his Southampton deal and it is inevitable he will be allowed to leave. Peretz’s permanent move from Bayern Munich has been followed by Chris Long’s signing and Aaron Ramsdale’s return from loan.

Martin’s appointment at Leicester had fuelled talk of a reunion, yet Derby’s interest means City could miss out. Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson has also been linked as Derby prepare for a possible Zetterstrom exit.
