Valencia are moving to finalise the signing of FC Tokyo winger Ryunosuke Sato, 19, for Carlos Corberán's first team. According to Superdeporte, the agreement is well advanced and the attacker will become a new addition shortly.

Sato caught the eye at the Under-17 Asian Cup with a moment that summed up his character. He settled a direct free-kick with a team-mate via rock, paper, scissors, won, then slipped his shot under the wall to beat the keeper.

The move is a strategic call from Valencia's recruitment department after months of tracking. The plan carries the imprint of director of recruitment and scouting, Lisandro Isei. Given his age, he could be registered in an under-23 slot.
