Santos have agreed a revised timetable to settle Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s R$ nine million severance after falling behind on the original plan.
According to Diario Do Peixe, the former head coach had threatened legal action when the board failed to honour an agreement to pay the clause in three instalments.
Club officials are handling the matter internally and are seeking to finalise terms with the Argentine to avoid further disputes.
Financial pressure extends beyond Vojvoda’s case. The club must pay Monaco R$ 12 million for midfielder Jean Lucas by six July to avoid a transfer ban, while the Court of Arbitration for Sport has yet to issue a ruling over coach Pedro Caixinha’s penalty, which could also lead to a ban.
Vojvoda was sacked in March, seven months after his August appointment. A 2-1 defeat to Internacional at Vila Belmiro in the seventh round of the Brasileirão, with the team winless for almost 30 days, proved the final straw.
He left after 34 matches with a 43% return, recording 10 wins, 14 draws and 10 defeats. That loss to Internacional ended Santos’s unbeaten run at Vila Belmiro and gave the visitors their first league victory.
