Santos have cancelled their Portugal camp after the possibility emerged that a Brasileirão fixture could be brought forward. The decision was taken on Tuesday.

UOL first reported the cancellation. Santos face the first leg of their Copa Sudamericana play-off against Universidad Central (VEN) on 21 July, which coincides with round 19, so the CBF could advance the Botafogo match.

The club had been due to be in Portugal from five to 17 July, but had already shortened the stay to 12 July because of potential calendar changes.

Santos were set to play Gil Vicente and Vitória de Guimarães in friendlies, plus a training game with Santa Clara, and were exploring a Benfica date on 16 July.

Joga Brasil, the organiser, said the cancellation became inevitable amid the potential advancement of Brasileirão rounds into the World Cup run-in, which would directly clash with the Portuguese fixtures and make logistics unworkable.

The company added that all tickets will be fully refunded via Smartfan Tickets by three July, and it will honour any proven financial losses, with support available through its official Instagram chat.

Head coach Cuca had welcomed the camp as a chance to run important tests and return for the second semester with greater match sharpness.
