Santos’ debt reached R$ 1.163.739.000,00 in the first quarter of 2026, with the report due to be discussed by the Conselho Deliberativo on Tuesday 23 at Vila Belmiro. The fiscal council has also questioned the accounting of a settlement involving Neymar.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the Conselho Fiscal calculated total liabilities at R$ 1.163.739.000,00. This differs from the club’s balance submitted to the council, which put the figure at R$ 1.094.039.000, and the council believes the higher amount should be recognised.

The report outlines a disagreement between the council and the executive over a debt restructuring agreement with Neymar Jr. Santos agreed to pay R$ 90 million to NR Sports in 48 instalments, secured against the CT Meninos da Vila training complex.

Club accounting treats the payments as monthly image rights obligations, recognised gradually under ITG 2003 and the Manual de Contabilidade para Entidades Esportivas.

The council argues that once the confissão de dívida was signed, a formal obligation with terms, penalties and collateral existed, so the full amount should be recorded in liabilities, split between short and long term. It bases this on NBC TG Estrutura Conceitual and NBC TG 26 (R5), which define passivo as a present obligation from a past event.

Santos posted a deficit of R$ 50.586.186 in the quarter. Revenue reached R$ 212.822.457, including R$ 102.421.309 from player transfers, led by the sale of left-back Souza to Tottenham.
