Schalke 04 set to acquire Jesper Lindstrøm on loan with €5m automatic purchase option | OneFootball

Former Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg professional Jesper Lindstrøm should be in line for an early introduction at Schalke 04 on Monday. Sport Bild confirmed the 26-year-old’s arrival at the Düsseldorf airport on Sunday afternoon. Assuming the Bundesliga veteran passes his medical, Lindstrøm will be unveiled as a new Schalke signing.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Schalke will technically acquire Lindstrøm on loan from Napoli, but a purchase option tied to a low number of appearances is built into the deal. The obligatory purchase clause will be triggered provided Lindstrøm meets the appearance requirement and die Königsblauen manage to avoid relegation. 

Napoli paid approximately €30m to acquire the Dane from Frankfurt in 2023. Following unsuccessful spells with Napoli, Everton, and Wolfsburg, Lindstrøm’s estimated market value has fallen to €4m. He made only four starts and 11 substitute appearances for Wolfsburg last season in the Bundesliga.
