Schalke ‘to consider’ move for Weghorst | OneFootball

Schalke are considering a summer move for Wout Weghorst, Voetbal International reports.

The 33-year-old previously played for Wolfsburg and Manchester United.

His Ajax contract expires at the end of the season, so he would be available on a free transfer. Twente and Benfica are also said to be keen.

Schalke sit top of the second division, and promotion would likely improve their chances of landing the Dutch forward.

The Royal Blues have already been rewarded for a winter gamble on another veteran, 40-year-old Edin Dzeko, who has scored six goals in eight games.
