Andreas Schjelderup has publicly rejected reports that he does not want to extend his Benfica contract, with the 22-year-old posting a firm denial on social media.

Record writes that he felt he was not properly valued despite improvement in the second half of last season under José Mourinho. The report added the issue was not financial, with a five-year renewal worth up to 18 million euros gross proposed at the end of the campaign.

It also said his representatives let the response deadline pass and had no intention of replying in the coming months. Schjelderup’s rebuttal has cast doubt on that version of events.

Benfica still want to extend his deal and consider him important for the future. They are said to have turned down offers not exceeding 45 million euros, including add-ons, viewing them as below his current value.

Despite rumours about dissatisfaction and a lack of agreement, Schjelderup has dismissed the claims and signalled that a response is coming, which could put the Norway international’s future back under the microscope.
