Série A clubs make 101 signings as spending falls 70 per cent in second window | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Brazil’s Série A clubs signed 101 players between 20 July and 11 September, spending about R$ 500 million. Outlay fell 70 per cent from the first window, when R$ 1.673 billion funded 177 arrivals, the lowest second window spend since 2023.

An extraordinary registration ran from 9 to 17 July after matchday 19 was brought forward. With some games before FIFA’s 20 July start for international transfers, the CBF allowed domestic moves to preserve competitive balance.

Flamengo, third in spending, moved late amid Gonzalo Plata’s near switch to Russia, signing Anthony Valencia from Royal Antwerp and Joaquín Freitas from River Plate, though Plata’s transfer collapsed and he returned.

At Atlético-MG, Fred impressed early, decisive against Cruzeiro in the Copa do Brasil with a goal and an assist across five games. With survival hopes slim, Chapecoense signed 11, Botafogo added nine including Ziyech and Angolan Domingos Andrade, and Mirassol also brought in nine, among them Gustavo Mosquito, Japa, Fernandinho and Zé Roberto.
