From Stoke City's perspective, it won't be long before Mark Robins' side are on the beach as their campaign starts to peter out into a mid-table finish.

For Leicester City and Wolves, the primary focus is on the end of the current term, with both sides in the midst of relegation battles in the Championship and Premier League, respectively.

Rob Edwards' side is likely to be a second-tier outfit next season, while Gary Rowett's Foxes took one massive step towards securing their Championship status for next season with a win over Bristol City that took them out of the relegation zone.

Next season, with a blank canvas ahead of them, they'll all be looking to return to their former top-flight status, and they may be reigniting interest in an exciting, young wideman from Serie A to help achieve those goals.

Alieu Njie on the radar of Premier League and Championship clubs

According to Ben Jacobs on X, Torino winger Alieu Njie is a target for Premier League and Championship clubs.

And while it isn't explicitly said which sides are eying a summer switch, the 20-year-old was of interest to Wolves, Leicester and Stoke in the most recent January transfer window, along with Belgian top-flight side Cercle Brugge.

Njie has been a product of the Torino youth system since he made the switch to Italy from his native Sweden in 2021. He progressed through the various academy squads before making his senior debut in September 2024.

This season, though, he's struggled to receive regular game time for the side currently sitting six points above the Serie A relegation zone. His sole league start saw him hooked at halftime against Udinese in January, and he's been an unused substitute on 18 separate occasions.

The latter two occasions have come in the two games under new manager Roberto D'Aversa, and Jacobs reports that a summer exit could be possible due to the limited minutes under him.

A four-time Swedish U-21 international, Njie has shown bursts of promise in the top flight in Italy, and would be ready to showcase that in England with the promise of improved game time, meaning a Championship switch would be ideal.

Alieu Njie would be a perfect replacement for possible wide departures at Leicester City and Stoke City

Leicester and Stoke won't be in the Premier League next season, but their squads currently possess top-flight quality talents in Abdul Fatawu and Sorba Thomas.

Fatawu has a bigger upside and would be more attractive to potential suitors, being just 22 years of age compared to Thomas' 27, but there's also no denying that Stoke's Welsh wideman is one of the best chance creators in the second tier.

It would be a shock if either side went through the summer transfer window without their two star wingers attracting interest, and if they decide to cash in on them, Njie could be an apt replacement.

The Swedish U-21 international hasn't been given much of an opportunity in the Torino fold, but his consistent place in Serie A squads shows that he's on the precipice of becoming a top-flight star.

Therefore, a move to the Championship would allow him to lay down the foundations of becoming a top-flight regular with the game time necessary at a side with play-off ambitions to learn and improve at such a young age.

First, Leicester needs to make sure that they're not a League One side next season, but in the interim, they may have a little focus on ensuring that they end this term in the driver's seat, ahead of the likes of Stoke and Wolves, for the race to sign Njie.
