Sevilla’s planning is defined by a blossoming academy talent and a loan turning sour. Joaquín Martínez Gauna, Oso, is rising as Alfon González’s Villarreal stint stalls.
Per El Desmarque, Alfon arrived on a free via Víctor Orta, then joined Villarreal on loan with a purchase option above seven million euros. He landed injured, missed about one month and has totalled 42 minutes in three outings under Marcelino, with competition from Moleiro or Ayoze and European exit shrinking his role. Without a drastic shift, Villarreal will not trigger the option, so he would return in summer without the anticipated profit.
Aged 22, Oso has burst into LaLiga under Matías Almeyda. ABC de Sevilla reports he is one game from automatically moving his release clause from 15 to 20 million euros, activated by reaching 10 league matches of at least 45 minutes, and he is on nine before Valencia on Saturday.
El Desmarque adds LaLiga have nominated him for March’s under-23 award alongside Arda Güler, Víctor Muñoz and Claudio Echeverri. His Camp Nou strike made him the club’s third academy scorer there, and Transfermarkt now values him at five million euros, up from 200,000 recently.
Lionel Scaloni is tracking him for Argentina due to dual nationality. Sevilla are also working on a renewal to raise his pay and set a clause near 50 million euros, seeking to secure a key asset while clearing last summer’s excess.
