Luis Diaz transferred from Liverpool FC to Bayern Munich a year ago and has proven to be an absolute stroke of luck. Even the high transfer fee was quickly justified. Now, however, there are rumors of a possible departure. 

In recent days, several media outlets have reported that Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia is said to have a strong interest in Diaz. The Saudi Pro League club reportedly has the Bayern star on its radar and is trying to sign him this summer.

The Colombian is said to be part of a major recruitment drive, following West Ham’s signing of Crysencio Summerville, the Dutch World Cup participant.

Should Bayern be worried about Diaz?

Al Hilal’s budget is astronomically high, which is why the club can afford top-tier transfers. Even in the initial reports, there was talk that an offer of well over 100 million euros is being considered if there are positive signals from the player’s side.

A report from L’Equipe now brings exciting news. Al Hilal has apparently made Diaz their top priority and intends to try, as a first step, to convince the player himself.

According to the report, Diaz himself is generally open to a transfer, though there is no indication that he has communicated internally his desire to leave FC Bayern. A high salary of up to 25 million euros net would be on the table for him.

However, other figures are circulating. Al-Hilal is reportedly working on an opening bid of at least 70 million euros, which, of course, wouldn’t be enough to make Bayern think twice.

And in any case, the record champions have already made it clear that, following his brilliant debut season, they continue to view the Colombian as a key part of the squad and have no intention of selling him after just one year. The star forward is under contract with FC Bayern for another three years, so there is absolutely no pressure.

At the same time, it’s also clear that the summer transfer window is currently picking up steam in every respect. And that can always give rise to a very special dynamic.
