The Egyptian King called time on his Anfield career after reaching an agreement to rip up his contract.

The 34-year-old signed a renewal in 2025 worth £400k per week until 2027 - but fell out with club bosses including Arne Slot. That paved the way for the two-time African footballer of the year to pursue a free transfer elsewhere.

Salah edges closer to £11m Besiktas contract

Although it was speculated that Salah would move to Saudi Arabia on a bumper contract it now looks as though he will be heading to Besiktas.

Fotomac is claiming that a deal worth €12.5m (£11m) per year is close to being agreed with the Istanbul giants. And crucially journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu has revealed that a significant hurdle in the deal has now been cleared.

Salah agent lowers demands

It was previously reported that Salah’s agent - Ramy Abbas - was seeking a huge commission - leading to Besiktas to stall on the move.

Now however it’s being reported that the representative has lowered those demands - meaning Salah will soon be a player for Besiktas.

“Mohamed Salah's representative has lowered the 7.5 million euro commission he was demanding and has come closer to the figure proposed by President Serdal Adalı!,” he writes on X.

Salah keen to remain in Europe

It might not be the payday Salah initially expected - with Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia reported to have considered offering him a contract worth £1.67m per week.

But the left-footed attacker remains keen to stay at the top level in European football - believing he has got plenty left in the tank.

Other sides - such as Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Roma - were all thought at one stage to be interested in signing the Liverpool legend. Other options available to Salah were MLS sides San Diego FC and Sporting Kansas City.
