Simeone ‘to move ahead’ of Benfica for Bernardo Silva on a free | OneFootball

Atlético Madrid, led by Diego Simeone, are preparing the summer window and exploring a move for Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, a Benfica target, with a free transfer possible.

According to Fichajes, Atlético have placed the Portugal midfielder among strategic summer targets as they prioritise players nearing the end of their contracts. He is viewed as a quality option for midfield, with centre-back Marcos Senesi and striker Dusan Vlahovic also on the list, and the club have entered the race and opened talks with the 31-year-old with a view to 2026/27.

Benfica are also following the player closely. His contractual position is said to give him leverage, allowing discussions to progress with relative freedom once the summer market officially opens.

This season Silva has made 39 appearances, comprising 29 in the Premier League, seven in the Champions League, one in the FA Cup and two in the EFL Cup. Across 2,852 minutes he has scored two goals and supplied five assists.

He is valued at €27 million.
