Chelsea’s transfer dealings show no signs of slowing, as the Blues now set their sights on Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. According to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth, United have slapped a £50 million price tag on the 21-year-old Argentine, who has attracted strong interest from Stamford Bridge.
United and Chelsea have reportedly been in contact “throughout the summer” about Garnacho, with both clubs maintaining what is described as a “good relationship.” This adds an interesting dynamic to an already high-stakes negotiation, particularly given the clubs’ historical rivalry and Garnacho’s potential impact.
Chelsea’s long-standing interest in Garnacho is nothing new. As Sheth reports, “Chelsea were interested in Garnacho in the winter window, however, a deal never materialised.” Fast-forward eight months and the Blues are clearly back at the table.
The signals from Old Trafford suggest Garnacho could be open to leaving. He was “given extra time off at the start of pre-season to explore a move away,” and Ruben Amorim has fuelled speculation further by stating that Garnacho wants a “different leadership.”

This is a significant comment. Amorim’s suggestion that the player is disillusioned with the current leadership at Manchester United hints at deeper dissatisfaction. The reference to “different leadership” could be seen as an indirect nod to the ongoing uncertainties and transitions under Erik ten Hag.
United, meanwhile, appear open to the idea of selling, albeit only at the right price. £50 million for a player of Garnacho’s age, potential, and current Premier League experience seems both a valuation of promise and a deterrent for casual suitors.
Garnacho is not Chelsea’s only target. RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons is also reportedly on the radar, suggesting the Blues are looking to inject youthful creativity into the squad. With both players offering versatility in attacking roles, it’s clear Chelsea are planning a dynamic forward line under Enzo Maresca.
Sheth confirms, “Chelsea want to sign Garnacho – and RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons – before the window closes.” This is a club making calculated moves, not simply accumulating talent, but targeting specific profiles that align with their long-term tactical identity.
A £50 million valuation for a player yet to cement himself as a week-in, week-out starter feels steep on paper, but Chelsea’s interest suggests they see Garnacho as a cornerstone for the future. Whether United are pricing to sell or simply posturing remains to be seen.
With pre-season already underway, a swift resolution would benefit all parties. Garnacho’s future appears undecided, but with Chelsea showing persistence, this story is far from over.
As a Chelsea supporter, it’s hard not to get excited about the possibility of Alejandro Garnacho joining the Blues. He’s young, hungry, fearless on the ball and has shown flashes of brilliance even in a turbulent United side. He’s exactly the type of high-ceiling talent we’ve missed since Hazard’s departure.
Garnacho’s desire for “different leadership” speaks volumes. It’s no secret that United’s managerial situation and lack of consistent identity have left some of their players frustrated. At Chelsea, under Maresca’s modern tactical setup and in a more cohesive sporting project, he could flourish.
From a squad perspective, he’d add depth to our wings, compete with Sterling, Mudryk and Palmer, and even offer cover centrally. His aggressive style, direct dribbling and flair could make him a fan favourite.
£50m is a hefty tag, but in today’s inflated market, it’s not outrageous. If United are willing to do business and Garnacho is keen, this deal could be one of the steals of the window. Let’s hope we move decisively and bring him to west London.
