Manchester United and Newcastle are among a growing list of top clubs monitoring Elliot Anderson. According to Florian Plettenberg, “their interest has already been registered,” as both sides look to strengthen midfield options ahead of the summer window.
Anderson has become a key figure for Nottingham Forest, and reports suggest the club are fully aware of the growing attention. It is understood that “for a transfer in the summer, a fee of around £100–120 million is currently being demanded.” With no release clause in place, Forest retain full control over his immediate future.

That valuation underlines how highly Anderson is rated, with scouts viewing him as a complete midfielder capable of shaping matches across Europe’s top competitions.
Manchester United’s recruitment team have made no secret of their intention to rebuild the midfield around younger, dynamic profiles, and Anderson fits that brief perfectly. His rise at Forest mirrors the kind of trajectory fans have long admired, technical ability, tactical intelligence, and the stamina to influence games at both ends of the pitch.
However, the proposed £100–120 million valuation immediately raises questions about financial balance and priorities. United’s fanbase remains cautious after years of high-profile, high-cost signings that failed to yield sustainable success. Many would argue that such a figure is excessive for a player still proving consistency at Premier League level.
On the other hand, Anderson’s performances have shown maturity beyond his age. His control under pressure and capacity to dictate tempo would suit the style that United are gradually shifting towards under their current regime. For Newcastle, his links to the North East add another layer, but competition from Old Trafford could escalate quickly if United’s decision-makers see him as a long-term solution.
Ultimately, supporters will view this as another sign that the club is actively targeting the right profiles. Whether they can justify the financial side, though, remains a key question heading into what promises to be a defining summer.
