SkyFi Castalia erupts as CD Castellón seal play-off place | OneFootball

The final whistle at SkyFi Castalia triggered an outpouring of joy as CD Castellón clinched a play-off berth to pursue promotion to Primera División after 35 years.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, a tense finish, with only a narrow gap on the scoreboard, soon gave way to hugs, families celebrating together and a shared pride in a dream season that could yet take on historic dimensions. The stands stayed to sing, savour and extend a fully deserved party after 27 matchdays in play-off positions since matchday 15.

As usual, the players, coaching staff and president Haralabos Voulgaris remained in the centre circle to thank the more than 14,000 supporters inside the ground.

The customary celebration with the Fondo 1922 was delayed in favour of a full lap of the pitch, with flags from the supporters’ section carried by Cipenga, Jéremy Mellot, still apart from the group with a muscle injury, and Marco Doué.

The entire squad then completed the circuit, greeted by ovations from each section of SkyFi Castalia before concluding in the Fondo Sur.

There, the classic songs of albinegrismo and the albinegro anthem rang out to salute a team that has filled the club with hope. The play-off is now a reality.
