Southampton Trail ‘Pole Position’ Club In Race For 20-year-old | OneFootball

Southampton trail in the race for attacker Louey Ben Farhat, as Eintracht Frankfurt have placed themselves in ‘pole position’ to sign the Karlsruher forward.

Saints were close to gaining promotion to the Premier League in the last campaign, but were disqualified from the playoffs after the spygate controversy.

Manager Tonda Eckert and Southampton are determined to win promotion in the new campaign and work in the transfer market will be crucial.

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Saints have already brought in Lewis Dobbin, Daniel Peretz, Cyle Larin, and Issa Tounkara to bolster the squad.

Now, the club are looking to add more firepower to their attack and have shown interest in Farhat, 20, who currently plays in the 2. Bundesliga.

However, Southampton are trailing in the race to sign Farhat, with Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in ‘pole position’ to sign him this summer, according to German broadcaster Sky Sport.

Eintracht Frankfurt are the only club to have tabled an offer for Farhat to Karlsruher, but the offer was considered too low by the club’s management.

It is believed that Karlsruher are seeking a €10m transfer fee to part with the 20-year-old forward, who extended his contract with the club in May 2025.

Eintracht Frankfurt do have an agreement on personal terms with the player, but having not closed the deal has seen other clubs become keen, with Southampton joined by Bournemouth, Red Bull Salzburg and Lille in the race.

The Tunisia international made 20 2. Bundesliga appearances in the last campaign, and scored six goals, while also chipping in with two assists.

It remains to be seen whether Southampton will make a bid for Farhat, but at the moment the 20-year-old does not have a shortage of suitors.

In the upcoming Championship season, Saints will start at the bottom of the table, as they suffered a four-point deduction for breaching EFL regulations.

Southampton will start the season with an away trip to Colchester United in an EFL Cup first-round encounter this weekend.
