Southampton's Cyle Larin nominated for Championship Goal of the Month | OneFootball

Southampton forward Cyle Larin has been shortlisted for the Championship Goal of the Month for August after his inventive strike in the 5-1 win over Millwall at St Mary's. According to Daily Echo, his effort is one of four nominees and is not regarded as the favourite.

The Canada international flicked the ball over a defender, then adjusted after a deflection before volleying in.

He is up against Dom Ballard, who scored for Bristol City against Birmingham, Watford's Amin Nabizada and Blackburn's Ryoya Morishita. Ballard is likely to take the honour after a superb backheel volley, improvising to turn in a low cross.

Larin has impressed since re-joining during the transfer window from RCD Mallorca for around £three million.

He was named Championship Player of the Month for August and now contests Goal of the Month. Voting is open, closing at five pm on Monday, September 14, with the winner due at 10am on Friday, September 18.
