Spain crowned world champions for second time against Argentina as Castelló celebrates | OneFootball

Spain were crowned world champions for the second time after a final against Argentina, prompting mass celebrations across the province of Castellón.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, which ran a live blog, crowds packed Castelló’s city centre and the Plaza Mayor as the party began.

Rodri was named the World Cup’s Golden Ball winner and heads a quartet of Villarreal academy graduates who have lifted the trophy for the first time.

Álex Baena started, with Yeremy Pino and Borja Iglesias also among the Villarreal academy contingent, although Iglesias did not play for Villarreal.

For a generation who did not witness 2010, tonight is going to be very long. Children revelled in Ferran’s goal and burst into song at the final whistle, with Ferran hailed as the hero of the final.
