As Barcelona gear up for their sixth league game this season against Real Oviedo tonight, one of the players who will be absent is Lamine Yamal.
The young forward has been missing in action after picking up discomfort. He was absent in Barcelona’s key matches against Newcastle United, Valencia and now Oviedo.
Earlier this month, a frustrated Hansi Flick blamed Luis de la Fuente for not taking care of the players, including Yamal. The German blamed the Spanish national team coach for playing Yamal even though he was suffering from discomfort.
“He had discomfort, he didn’t train between matches with the national team, and that’s not taking care of the players,” Flick notably said.
“He went to the national team with discomfort, didn’t train between matches, played many minutes, 73 and 79, in each match with discomfort. That’s not being careful with the players,” the Barcelona coach added.

Now, at a recent event, de la Fuente was asked about Flick’s comments about his management and decision to play Yamal during the recent international break.
The Spaniard, though, appears to have no desire to pick up a fight with Flick and simply said (h/t SPORT), “Today, in my homeland, at this moment, I don’t remember what Flick said, nor do I care.”
By home, de la Fuente was referring to Logrono, the capital of the autonomous community of La Rioja, the region he hails from.
The Spanish national team coach was recently honoured by the Riojan Football Federation, which named a room in its headquarters after de la Fuente and placed a decorative vinyl record with his picture all around.
