Spanish paper slams Gusto, Garnacho and Delap as “light years” from Chelsea level | OneFootball

Even media outlets in other countries are now picking up on how much trouble Chelsea are in this summer, with so many players linked away.

Pablo Montano, the London football correspondent at Spanish paper AS has been writing about Chelsea and the mess that his countryman Xabi Alonso is going to walk into when he takes over this summer.

They note that with Enzo Fernandez making eyes at Real Madrid, Joao Pedro heavily linked to Barcelona, and likes of Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer linked with moves away, the risk of a “stampede” is real.

If those players do leave, there’s not much confidence in their potential replacements either:

“The likes of Liam Delap, Alejandro Garnacho and Malo Gusto have shown that they are light year from the level Chelsea require, and none of them were cheap,” the damning piece continues.

So there are players who want to leave, and players we need to sell – it could be some summer of transfer action after all.

Arsenal have been linked with interest in Enzo Fernandez, a move Chelsea would obviously rather avoid, and one that would make the Gunners stronger.

There could be a major turnaround under Xabi Alonso next season, or at least that’s what one Premier League CEO is saying after seeing how things have shaken out at Stamford Bridge.
