Matheus Martins struck in the 14th minute with a low finish, setting Botafogo on course for a 4-1 victory over Chapecoense.
He timed his run onto a through ball and guided a left-footed effort into the bottom corner (14.). The forward's movement between the lines kept the hosts retreating.
Moments later, he slid in Júnior Santos for a shot on target (25.). He then drew a save with a drive from range (34.). Another effort was gathered soon after (36.) as Fogão stayed on the front foot against Chape.
After the restart he sealed it, collecting a pass and whipping a right-footer from outside the box into the bottom right (80.), this time after combining with Joaquín Correa.
Martins finished with two goals from four shots on target, three key passes and 20 successful final third passes, a blend of end product and link play that underpinned Glorioso's control.
The display lifts Fogão from 11th to 7th in the Brasileirão. Glorioso host Internacional next, while Verdão do Oeste visit Fluminense.
