Carlos Vicente broke the deadlock in the 48th minute with a glancing header, setting Birmingham City up for a 2-0 win over Wrexham. His timing shifted the game after a tight first half.
Vicente had signalled it before the break, twice drawing saves from Arthur Okonkwo and seeing another effort blocked as he repeatedly drove in off the left to test the defence.
Then came the moment. Arriving between centre-back and wing-back, Vicente met Kai Wagner's whipped cross and guided his header into the top right (48.). The winger's blind-side run created separation at the key instant.
He stayed busy to the end, forcing another save in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time. The Spaniard finished with five attempts and four on target, plus eight possession regains and six successful passes in the final third, underlining a display of direct threat and relentless work.
Because Birmingham kept finding him early and high on the left, his carries and near-post darts continually unsettled Wrexham's back line and maintained territorial pressure after the restart.
Birmingham climb from 17th to 15th in the Championship. Birmingham visit Hull next. Wrexham host Stoke next.
How high would you rate Vicente's performance today?
