Cody Drameh is expected to remain at the MKM Stadium despite transfer interest

Stoke City, Preston North End and Millwall have suffered a setback in their respective pursuits of Hull City right-back, Cody Drameh, with little time in the summer transfer window now remaining.

According to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports, the defender is open to staying at the MKM Stadium as the Tigers mark their return to the Premier League this weekend, despite continuing to attract interest from Championship clubs.

Stoke and Preston, meanwhile, began their own league seasons on Saturday afternoon, with Mark Robins and Paul Heckingbottom both suffering frustrating defeats to Swansea City and Bolton Wanderers, whilst the Lions saw off Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The Championship trio have endured extremely intriguing summer transfer windows thus far, which included the Lilywhites splashing out a club-record fee to secure the permanent services of highly-rated midfielder, Alfie Devine, from Tottenham Hotspur for a club-record fee.

However, it appears as though, from a right-back perspective, all three clubs will be crossing Drameh off their shortlists, as the 24-year-old's stance on his immediate future has been revealed.

In recent times, Drameh has become a household name at Championship level despite being on the books of Leeds United for some time, without necessarily breaking into the first-team fold.

Indeed, the London-born defender previously enjoyed loan spells with the likes of Cardiff City, Luton Town and Birmingham City, before swapping West Yorkshire for East Yorkshire two summers ago under Tim Walter.

However, the full-back's time at the MKM Stadium has been far from smooth sailing under three different head coaches, only making 55 appearances in all competitions thus far.

And, after being the subject of interest from all of Stoke, Preston and Millwall within the past 12 months, it was reported that North End had lodged a £1m bid for Drameh on August 13th.

However, in a fresh twist, the defender is open to fighting for his place with Hull despite only making 26 appearances under Sergej Jakirovic, which included a substitute cameo in May's play-off final win over Middlesbrough.

It is clear that all three sides who were reported to hold concrete interest in Drameh view the right-back position as a problem area at present, in particular Stoke and Millwall.

The Potters are currently lightweight in this area of the pitch following an injury to Junior Tchamadeu, who missed the season opener but is now back in training, despite the club carefully monitoring his fitness levels.

Millwall, meanwhile, were interested in a move for French defender, Nolan Galves, alongside Queens Park Rangers, before the former Rodez AF man opted to sign for West Bromwich Albion, where he has already made a strong impression in a short period of time.

Having made 117 Championship appearances for a glut of clubs in comparison to just four Premier League outings, some will argue that Drameh is well within his right to try and compete for a starting berth with Hull, although his main competition at present is club captain, Lewie Coyle.

However, it has been reported that City are still pursuing the signature of Norwegian international defender, Marcus Holmgren Pedersen, from Torino, which would mean three right-backs would be on the clubs books, and given his status in comparison to Coyle, would knock the ex-Leeds man further down the pecking order.

As such, Drameh potentially risks a stagnation period, where he may only feature for Jakirovic's team as a substitute or in cup competitions, as opposed to regular gametime once again.
