In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Sunderland are among the clubs hoping to sign West Ham United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. It has been mentioned that the Black Cats would have to compete with Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Everton and Fulham in the race to land the Congolese defender this summer.
Wan-Bissaka has caught the eye at times with his performances on the right side of West Ham’s backline, but failed to help them avoid relegation from the Premier League. The 28-year-old has made 27 appearances for the Hammers this season, securing three assists in the process across all competitions.
The Congolese talent has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could be a real asset in Sunderland’s squad if they can find a way to snap him up this off-season.
His current contract at the London Stadium will run out in the summer of 2031, which could make it tough for the Black Cats to sign him on the cheap in this upcoming transfer period.

Wan-Bissaka is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and can create the odd chance for his teammates from the wide areas.
The Congolese talent is primarily a right-back but can also function as a left-back or fill in as a right-sided wide player if needed. He is quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Wearside club.
We can expect Wan-Bissaka to add more quality and depth to Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris’ defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting role at the Stadium of Light.
At 28, Wan-Bissaka has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a good choice for the Black Cats to pursue in this summer transfer window. He will also help the Black Cats compete across all fronts over the next few years.
