In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Sunderland are in the mix to land Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram. It has been stated that the Black Cats would have to compete with Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign the French midfield ace this summer.

Thuram’s Impressive Season In Serie A

The 25-year-old put in a string of impressive displays at the centre of Juventus’ midfield in the previous campaign. Thuram scored four times and picked up five assists in 45 matches for the Turin outfit last season across all fronts.

The French talent is currently one of the most talented central midfielders in Serie A. Hence, it is no surprise that Sunderland are in the race to acquire his services later this year.

His current contract at the Allianz Stadium will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for the Black Cats to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Go For Thuram?

Thuram is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his side in the middle of the park. He usually clears the danger when needed and can shoot the ball with venom from long range.

The French sensation has also got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for others around him in the final third. Standing at 1.92m, Thuram can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition in the air and is full of energy and running at the centre of the park. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League

Thuram would add more quality and depth to Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ midfield department. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the Stadium of Light next season.

At 25, Thuram has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a dream choice for the Black Cats to pursue in this summer transfer window. However, Le Bris has to give him some time to adjust to life in the Premier League before he can get the best out of the player.
