Sunderland are being linked with Feyenoord’s Anis Hadj Moussa, while a separate report says they have made contact for AIK teenager Zadok Yohanna.
La Gazette du Fennec reports Sunderland are among Premier League clubs tracking the 24-year-old, who delivered 11 goals and six assists in 30 Eredivisie games, with Chelsea, Newcastle, Liverpool, Bournemouth and Benfica also linked.
Hadj Moussa also struck past Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs in a pre-World Cup friendly against the Netherlands earlier this week, and the report suggested the pair could be team-mates on Wearside next term.
"I'm still under contract with Feyenoord. As long as that's the case, the answer is no. But in life, and therefore also in football, you never know what the future holds. Maybe I'll leave, maybe I'll stay; neither of us knows at the moment." He told Algemeen Dagblad.
"I'm open to all options. Maybe Feyenoord wants to sell me, maybe not. We'll see. If I were to leave, I'd prefer to go to England. I think I could also play in Spain with my style of play. Or in France. They're also fantastic footballing nations. But the Premier League is the best league in the world."
TEAMtalk claims Sunderland have made contact over Newcastle-linked winger Zadok Yohanna, 19, at Swedish side AIK, with Chelsea, Manchester City, Brighton, Brentford and Crystal Palace also interested.
