Sunderland’s owners have reiterated their commitment amid fresh talk of a sale, as a major transfer call and academy moves take shape.

Footbiz reports that potential investors were told of the club’s availability on Friday, with US investment bank Moelis retained. Moelis previously worked on Chelsea’s sale. The owners insist they remain fully committed and are already planning for next season after securing Premier League safety.

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus holds 64 percent and Juan Sartori 36 percent. They own the club through parent company Mercator, part of their wider Bia Sports Group interests.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Sunderland will not take up their option to sign Lutsharel Geertruida from RB Leipzig this summer, the clause understood to be around £20 million, reported at €23 million. The Netherlands international joined on loan last summer and has made 27 appearances without nailing down a regular spot under Régis Le Bris. Le Bris said on Thursday it was too early to decide, but the outlet reports the defender will leave at season’s end.

Further down the club, Sunderland are progressing academy decisions. Talks continue with Jack Whittaker over a new deal, while Dan Cameron and Jake Waters are expected to depart in June on free transfers. Hebburn Town want Cameron and Waters after promotion to National League North, and are also keen on a possible loan return for goalkeeper Isaac Allan.
