Sunderland are plotting a pivotal summer as they step up recruitment for a Europa League campaign, while several Premier League rivals have already kicked off their business.

Targets linked to the Stadium of Light include Marseille midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, RB Salzburg winger Kerim Alajbegovic and Sweden defender Emil Holm. For now, Sunderland’s confirmed movement is outgoing, with Bertrand Traore, Dan Neil, Dennis Cirkin and Niall Huggins departing at the end of their contracts.

The window opens on Monday and early deals are already stacking up across the division. Tottenham have added Andy Robertson from Liverpool and Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth.

Newcastle have signed Ewen Jaouen from Reims for £18.5m and sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for £69.3m. Ipswich have brought in Chuba Akpom for £7m and Cedric Kipre for an undisclosed fee. Brentford have recruited Jannik Schuster from Red Bull Salzburg for £16.5m.

Liverpool have seen Mohamed Salah depart by mutual termination, with Ibrahima Konate also leaving, and Andy Robertson heading to Tottenham. Manchester United have moved Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli for £38m, with Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho out of contract. At Brighton, Solly March and James Milner have left, while Jeremy Sarmiento has joined Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee.
