Sunderland face a pivotal summer as they ready their squad for a historic Europa League campaign, so here are the key 2026 transfer window dates and rules.

The Premier League has confirmed the window opens on Monday, June 15. Clubs may agree deals in advance, but registrations can only be completed once the window is open.

There is a change to the deadline. After two summers closing at 7pm, this year’s window runs until 11pm on Tuesday, September 1, giving clubs longer to wrap up business.

A deal sheet can be used to log an agreement and secure an extra two hours for paperwork. For an 11pm cut-off, it cannot be submitted before 9pm and must arrive before the window shuts, giving clubs until 1am to finalise.

Sunderland sealed Europa League qualification with a final-day home win over Chelsea and will play at least eight additional league-phase fixtures alongside Juventus, Marseille and AC Milan. That load could rise with progress in the knockout rounds, FA Cup or Carabao Cup.
