Sunderland’s summer business can start soon, with the key dates now set. The Premier League have confirmed the window opens on Monday, 15 June, and registrations can be processed from then.

This year’s deadline moves to 11pm on Tuesday, the first of September, after two years at seven pm. Clubs often agree moves earlier, but they cannot be finalised until the window opens.

Less than a fortnight has passed since a home win over Chelsea on the final day secured Europa League football and confirmed the Stadium of Light will stage competitive European games for the first time.

Regis Le Bris and his side face at least eight additional fixtures in the league phase alongside Juventus, Marseille and AC Milan. That tally could rise if they reach the knockouts, and further still with progress in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Former defender Darren Williams has cautioned that depth will be required to handle the schedule. Sunderland have been linked with a host of names as plans take shape.

There is interest in departures too, with Wrexham said to be monitoring goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, while forward Eliezer Mayenda is reportedly attracting attention from Championship newcomers West Ham United.

Clubs can use a deal sheet to lodge an agreement and gain two extra hours to complete paperwork. For an 11pm deadline, the form cannot be submitted before nine pm and must land before the window shuts, allowing completion until one in the morning.
