Sunderland face a pivotal summer as they shape a Europa League squad, and here are the key transfer window timings.
According to Sunderland Echo, the 2026 Premier League summer window opens on Monday, June 15. Deals can be agreed beforehand, but they only become official once players are registered after the window opens.
This year’s deadline is 11pm on Tuesday, September 1, extended from the 7pm cut-off used in the last two summers.
Clubs can use the deal sheet to secure an extra two hours once an agreement is reached. For an 11pm deadline, the sheet cannot be filed before 9pm and must land before the window shuts. Once lodged, the parties have until 1am to finish the paperwork.
Sunderland sealed Europa League qualification with a final-day home win over Chelsea, ensuring the Stadium of Light will stage competitive European football for the first time. Regis Le Bris’ side expect at least eight additional fixtures in the league phase alongside clubs such as Juventus, Marseille and AC Milan, with more if they advance in Europe or domestic cups.
Former defender Darren Williams has warned depth will be vital for a crowded schedule. The club have been linked with numerous arrivals, while Wrexham are said to be monitoring goalkeeper Anthony Patterson and forward Eliezer Mayenda is reportedly drawing interest from Championship newcomers West Ham United.
