Sunderland will have a front-of-shirt sponsor for 2026-27, despite online rumours sparked by the sponsorless home kit launch.

According to Sunderland Echo, the club will announce a new main partner in due course, although the identity has not yet been confirmed.

The Hummel home strip was unveiled on Tuesday without branding across the front, a clean design that was well received by supporters and fuelled speculation.

During the away kit launch the club signalled that fans buying shirts before the reveal will be able to have the sponsor added later. Details on the process will follow once the partnership is unveiled.

Launching the kits without branding appears to be down to the timing of the agreement rather than an intention to remain sponsorless.

The announcement date is still unclear, and the company involved has not yet emerged.

The agreement comes before a significant season, with Sunderland in the Premier League and Europa League. Boosting commercial income remains important as Florent Ghisolfi and Régis Le Bris ready the squad for European demands.
