Sunderland’s spending on agent fees rose fivefold after promotion, with £10,627,772 paid between February 2025 and February 2026, The FA’s newly published figures show. That is up from £2,170,045 in their final Championship season.

The data covers the two transfer windows following the Wembley win, reflecting a major summer overhaul and contract renewals agreed across the year. Despite the scale of business, Sunderland’s total was among the smallest in the division.

Burnley recorded the lowest outlay at £7,357,902, while Everton were the only other club below Sunderland on £9,990,374. Fellow promoted side Leeds United spent £13,990,935.

Spending by clubs around them was higher, with Bournemouth on £20,883,523 and Brighton on £19,520,800. Newcastle United’s payments came to just over £20 million.

Chelsea topped the list on £65,102,247, while Premier League clubs combined for £460,300,308. Sunderland’s 17 signings in the period are included, as are renewal-related fees for Trai Hume, Eliezer Mayenda, Luke O'Nien and Chris Rigg. The figures cover any transaction involving an FA-registered intermediary.
