In professional soccer, it’s not uncommon for players to have certain routines—and in some cases, even to be superstitious. This also applies to Bayern striker Harry Kane, as he has now explained.
Kane is currently with the English national team at the World Cup in North America. Before his first appearance for the Three Lions, he gave a brief interviewto a U.S. sporting goods retailer .
During the interview, he was asked about certain pre-game rituals. And indeed, Kane is someone for whom preparing for a game involves specific routines.
The Bayern striker revealed that he has always followed the exact same pattern since the beginning of his career. First comes the left sock, then the left shin guard, and finally the left cleat. “Everything on the left first,” Kane said with a laugh.
Kane, who—along with the English national team—is at least considered one of the broader circle of favorites, also spoke about the significance of representing England on the biggest stage: “It’s a dream come true. I’ve been lucky enough to do it a few times already, and I can’t wait to do it again.”

Kane and England will kick things off right away with a match against a very strong opponent. On Wednesday at 9 p.m., England will face Croatia, featuring Bayern Munich star Josip Stanisic. The English are considered the favorites, but Croatia is a dangerous opponent.
Incidentally, Kane also commented on the rumors that he’s considering playing American football after his soccer career ends. “Why not? It takes a lot of training and hard work, but why not?” said the forward. For now, however, that’s a secondary concern—for him, it’s all about the World Cup.
