Dusan Tadic’s potential return to Ajax has yet to materialise into anything more than rumour, reports club expert Mike Verweij. In fact, players will have to leave Amsterdam before the club management give the green light for the Serbian’s return.
“It seemed for a long time that he would come,” Verweij starts in the De Telegraaf‘s Kick-off podcast. “That is still an option, because he is in the picture, and Ajax really want to get him in. But at the moment, the selection is still far too full and it needs to be rejuvenated first instead of ageing even more, so Tadic will have to be patient.”
Last week, it was reported that Tadic also has received interest from Greece and his homeland, Serbia. “I don’t know if Tadic has patience,” says Verweij. “He is certainly an option (for Ajax). I am sure that they would like to get Tadic and Blind, but first, the big clean-up has to start. That is not going to happen.”
Following his departure from Fenerbahçe, Tadic can be picked up on a free transfer. Last season, the midfielder played 53 official matches for the Turkish giants, scoring 13 goals and registering 18 assists.
