João Pedro Tchoca will undergo surgery for an inguinal hernia and will only be available for Corinthians after the World Cup break in the second half of this year, the club said on Friday.

The centre-back has had pain in the pubic region since early April.

He has one goal and only five appearances for Corinthians this season.

In January the 22-year-old travelled to Italy to sign for Torino but failed his medical.

Corinthians did not specify the reason at the time.
