Tension and clashes outside Mestalla before Valencia v Barcelona | OneFootball

The build-up to Valencia against Barcelona at Mestalla was marred by clashes around the stadium as police intervened.

According to AS, National Police charged a group of supporters gathered in bars around the Plaza de la Afición after both team buses had arrived without issues.

The police action reportedly followed a flare being lit once the Valencia bus had passed. In the ensuing melee, objects including cans and chairs were thrown towards police lines, prompting the response.

Barcelona’s bus did not use the main façade entrance, instead entering via one of the ends.

The disturbances were not connected to the protest against Peter’s management organised by several groups on Saturday afternoon. That demonstration had already ended and passed without incident.
