According to ExpressAndStar.com, a deal has been agreed for Raul Jimenez to return to Wolves, rekindling a bond forged across five years at Molineux.

He arrived on loan in 2018, scored a debut equaliser against Everton, and by March had matched Steven Fletcher’s Premier League club record with 12, finishing on 17 in 44.

He scored the opener in the 2-1 win over Manchester United that sealed a semi-final. Three days before the semi-final, Wolves completed what was believed to be a club record £30 million deal and he signed a four year contract to 2023. At Wembley he struck against Watford, celebrated with a Sin Cara mask, but lost 3-2 after extra time.

Under Nuno Espirito Santo, Wolves finished seventh and qualified for Europe. They then reached the Europa League quarter-finals, losing to eventual winners Sevilla, and secured another seventh place.

In November 2020 a clash of heads with David Luiz left him with a fractured skull and ended his season. He returned in 2021 wearing a protective head guard and scored in a 1-0 win at Southampton that September. He remains Wolves’ record Premier League scorer with 40, leaving in 2023 with 57 overall.

Unused against Everton on the final day of 2022/23, he vented frustration then returned in tears for the lap of appreciation. Back at Molineux with Fulham in May, he earned an ovation to chants of "Si Senor", later saying a return was possible as talks progressed and the club now finalise his comeback.
