According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves have agreed Raul Jimenez’s return, a medical is complete and he will sign a two-year deal with an option of a third after leaving Fulham this summer. Staff have travelled to Mexico to finalise the move.
Jimenez arrived on loan in 2018, shortly after promotion, and headed a debut equaliser against Everton. He finished the campaign with 17 in 44 as Wolves took seventh and a Europa League berth.
He struck past Manchester United to reach the FA Cup semi-finals, then made it 2-0 against Watford at Wembley, celebrating with a lucha libre mask. Watford rallied to win 3-2 after extra time.
Wolves made the move permanent three days before that semi-final in a believed club-record £30 million deal. He added assists to his goals, dovetailed with Diogo Jota and was named Players’ Player of the Season.
The following campaign brought Europa League quarter-finals and defeat to eventual winners Sevilla. He scored in the 3-2 comeback against Manchester City and finished with 27 goals, collecting both supporters’ and players’ awards.
His progress was halted in November 2020 by a fractured skull after a clash of heads at Arsenal. He returned for 2021/22 wearing a head guard and scored at Southampton in September.
Still Wolves’ record Premier League scorer with 40, he left in 2023. Back with Fulham in May, he came on to a standing ovation as chants of "Si Senor" and "sign him up" rang out, then said there was a possibility of a return.
