Ahead of the highly anticipated Champions League semi-final between FC Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain, PSG coach Luis Enrique is deliberately holding back from making any predictions. In the run-up to the clash of the giants, the Spaniard refused to play down the role of favorite – and instead put the responsibility on the pitch
„It’s not important who goes into the game as the favorite,“ explained Enrique and emphasized: „The decisive factor is who shows their level on the pitch.“ A clear statement that shows that the PSG coach is focusing exclusively on sporting performance
In terms of personnel, Enrique can draw on a full squad. Fabián Ruiz, an important midfielder, returns after an injury lay-off of around three months. Young star Désiré Doué, who has been struggling recently, is also available again
This means PSG have more options in their squad compared to Bayern, who will be without the injured Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl, among others – an advantage that could play a decisive role in the close clash

Paris go into the semi-finals with a broad chest, having reached the last four of the top flight for the third time in a row – an achievement that Enrique emphasized
„It’s not normal, we’re proud of it,“ said the Spaniard, making it clear that his team is ready to fight for the title again. The Spaniard is looking forward to „one of the best teams in Europe at the moment“ and is firmly convinced that it will be two „incredible games at a very high level“
Interestingly, while Enrique is deliberately leaving the question of favorites open, Bayern themselves have already decided on the roles, with CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen recently declaring: „If anyone is the favorite, it’s Paris Saint-Germain.“
Coach Vincent Kompany also spoke of the „most difficult task of all“, but at the same time expressed his conviction that his team can overcome this challenge
The starting position ahead of the two clashes on April 28 in Paris and May 6 in Munich is therefore clear: two European heavyweights will meet as equals.
