Thomas Partey, the Ghanaian Villarreal midfielder, pleaded not guilty at Southwark Crown Court on Monday to two further rape charges. The allegations relate to two incidents involving the same woman in London on a day in December 2020. He is out of contract at Villarreal on 30 June.

According to Sky Sports, judge Bennathan is expected to preside over the case.

Partey had already been charged in July last year with five counts of rape and one of sexual assault, alleged to have occurred in 2021 and 2022. He previously entered not guilty pleas, and a trial had been listed for November 2026.

The two new counts were announced in February. Westminster magistrate Tony Baumgartner ordered all allegations to be tried together, but cautioned the trial could be pushed to January next year.

In total, Partey denies seven counts of rape and one of sexual assault, linked to accusations from four different women. He entered two not guilty pleas during the hearing.

He remains on bail under a condition prohibiting contact with the alleged victims. The case is due to return to court on 14 May for a preliminary hearing, after which the exact trial date will be set once the judge is confirmed.
