Blues are planning a Peaky Blinders-themed matchday takeover on Good Friday

Birmingham City have been involved in some major sponsorship deals under the ownership of Knighthead Capital Management, in a bid to increase the club's stature as a 'global' brand.

It's fair to say, though, none have felt quite as close to home for Blues and their loyal support than the recent deal with streaming platform, Netflix, to mark the release of the film 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man' on March 20th.

The drama has become a part of popular culture since the release of its maiden series in 2013, and that is, naturally, encapsulated most in Birmingham, having been based on gang crime which took place within the district of Small Heath, where Blues' historic ground - St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park - has stood since 1906.

Since his initial investment in the club back in July 2023, Tom Wagner and other members of the Knighthead board in B9 have immersed themselves in the locals' matchday habits, whilst also thinking outside the box when it comes to increasing the attention the club receives from all angles right throughout the globe.

It certainly helps when the man who created Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight, is one of the most well-known Bluenoses through reputation, and the 66-year-old has been heavily involved in multiple projects endorsed by Knighthead since their takeover almost three years ago.

Another of those in the pipeline is a Peaky Blinders-themed matchday takeover for the upcoming home clash with Blackburn Rovers on Good Friday.

And, whilst many Blues fans are currently frustrated by developments on the pitch at St. Andrew's, that hasn't stopped co-owner, Tom Brady, from reacting to a recent reveal regarding the aforementioned partnership.

Brady, of course, has only increased the spotlight on the current situation Blues are in, particularly in his native United States, as a result of a stellar NFL career, during which he won seven Super Bowl titles.

Nowadays, the 48-year-old is Birmingham's 'Advisory Board chairman' with a reported 3.3 percent stake, and has been spotted at some of the club's most-recent high-profile matches, such as the 3-1 win over Wrexham in September 2024 and the EFL Trophy final defeat to Peterborough United 11 months ago.

Supporters were also given a deeper insight into his involvement through the Amazon Prime series titled 'Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues' which aired in August, whilst he is often seen sending messages of encouragement and support after matches.

With the club adding further teases to the aforementioned takeover day next Friday, they released a selection of images in which Tomoki Iwata, Paik Seung-ho, Demarai Gray and record signing, Jay Stansfield, were seen posing in stereotypical 'Peaky Blinder' attire, including a flat cap.

Brady was clearly a fan of the quartet's look, as he reacted to the post with three 'fire' emojis, whilst other reactions were rather split, with one verdict reading: Nearly as embarrassing as having a firework display for a League Two side in the EFL Trophy."

Steven Knight has revealed major Birmingham City wish amid Peaky Blinders-themed partnership

The aforementioned Knight also helped Blues with the unveiling of the 62,000-seater Powerhouse stadium in November, with it being held at Digbeth Loc Studios - which was the primary filming location of the newly-screened film.

The lifelong Blues supporter also expressed his delight that the club had partnered with Netflix to celebrate its recent screening, whilst also setting out one major wish he has for the club in the future.

That, of course, involves a dream return for Real Madrid and England ace, Jude Bellingham, who made just 44 senior appearances for the club before being sold to Borussia Dortmund in July 2020.

“He came back from Madrid and appeared in the film to launch the design for the stadium and did his bit, so I want him to come back [to play for Birmingham] one day,” said Knight.
