As Italy prepare for the World Cup play-off, as many as 12 Azzurri could be on the move this summer regardless of qualification. La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests several players may change clubs ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Goalkeepers Guglielmo Vicario, Elia Caprile and Marco Carnesecchi are all subject to speculation. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio met Vicario’s agent in London last week, and the Tottenham man, recovering from hernia surgery, is not involved with Italy this month.
Inter could also field bids for Alessandro Bastoni, who has been linked with Barcelona. The Serie A leaders will not consider offers under €60m for the 26-year-old.
Atalanta defender Marco Palestra, on loan at Cagliari, earned his first Italy call-up this month. His asking price is close to €40m, the same figure cited for Carnesecchi.
Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti has signed a new deal, yet his future in Turin under Luciano Spalletti is described as uncertain, with Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri tempted to reunite with him at San Siro.
Sandro Tonali is arguably the squad’s biggest star alongside Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Newcastle will not let the former Milan midfielder leave for less than €70m. Davide Frattesi is likely to seek a fresh start after limited minutes under Cristian Chivu, while Inter would only consider Nicolò Barella’s exit for a big-money offer.
Strikers Moise Kean and Mateo Retegui are expected to move. The Fiorentina forward has a €62m clause active in the first two weeks of July, while Retegui wants a Serie A return but would need to reduce his €16m salary at Al-Qadsiah FC.
Federico Chiesa has withdrawn from the play-off squad and will likely seek an exit from Liverpool, having played fewer than 700 minutes this season.
