Tonda Eckert is prepared to use Samuel Edozie if the winger remains beyond the 11pm deadline, with Southampton still active late in the window.
According to Sainstmarching.com, Southampton have added Cyle Larin and Daniel Peretz, and loaned in Divin Mubama, who scored in the 3-1 win over Stoke City. Larin impressed in the 5-1 victory over Millwall, with his £3m fee looking a bargain.
Departures include Gavin Bazunu to Bolton Wanderers permanently and Ben Brereton Diaz back to Sheffield United on loan. Joshua Quarshie has joined Sturm Graz on loan, Jay Robinson is spending the season with AC Monza, and Taylor Harwood-Bellis is preparing a switch to Aston Villa.
Yukinara Sugawara could leave on another loan, with an option to buy, as Cagliari close in. Eckert’s squad remains bloated, and Damion Downs may stay despite Larin and Mubama being ahead of him, though he has impressed in flashes.
Edozie cost about £10m in 2022 and has never fully nailed down a starting spot, with 16 league starts his season-high. Even so, he has been a lively impact option and has admirers in Italy, including Lecce, so a sale before the deadline is not certain.
He produced nine goal contributions in the 2023/24 promotion season and drew praise from Russell Martin in the 5-0 win over Swansea. Under Eckert he has 495 minutes and four assists, under Martin 1,676 minutes with six goals and three assists, and he won a penalty in the 3-1 Stoke victory.
