Tony Yeboah, now 60, says his Liverpool thunderbolt is the standout moment of his Leeds United stint, and he has also voiced a lingering regret about leaving Elland Road.

According to Leeds Live, the former Ghana international is still synonymous with spectacular long-range goals and collected consecutive Goal of the Month awards at the start of 1995-96.

"Without doubt, that was the best goal I scored," he said. "The Wimbledon goal comes close but we won that game 4-2. Liverpool were the team I supported growing up, and it was the only goal of the game. It meant more."

He scored 24 Premier League goals for Leeds across a little over two seasons, then departed in the opening weeks of 1996-97 after a personality clash with incoming manager George Graham. He rejoined the Bundesliga at Hamburg, making 100 appearances, before finishing with Al-Gharafa SC in Qatar.

"Playing for Leeds was the best time of my life," he added. "Looking back, maybe I should have stayed there for the rest of my career."
