Tottenham Hotspur have scouted Southampton attacking midfielder Leo Scienza several times this term, according to journalist Patrick Berger.
Spurs will look to strengthen their attack this summer and have sent representatives to run the rule over the 27-year-old Brazilian.
Scienza has admirers from Italy and Spain. Aston Villa, Fulham and Everton are also interested, and he could leave Southampton in the coming weeks.
He has bagged ten goals and ten assists across 47 games this term.
Scienza was named the Saints’ Fans’ and Players’ Player of the Season after helping them reach the play-offs, but could be on his way after just one season.
A move to Tottenham could appeal, but they must escape relegation to have a chance of luring Scienza away from Southampton.
They may need to get all three points against Everton on the final day of the season to stay up, with 18th-place West Ham United just two points behind them.
Spurs will sign new players if the club hold on to their Premier League status, and the Brazilian fits the bill.
He has no release clause in his contract, and Southampton must be willing to sell for a deal to work out.
The Saints qualified for the Championship play-offs final but have been replaced by Middlesbrough after admitting they spied on three clubs during the season.
They are expected to remain in the division despite plans to appeal on Wednesday. Scienza may push for an exit, especially if Tottenham come after him.
